Yes! It’s that time again. Time to talk about an animal that is extremely Canadian. This one even has “Canada” in its name! That’s right, we’re talking about Canada Goose, the long neck animal that flies.
In the park, at the beach, inside your house: Go anywhere in Canada and you are sure to see Canada Goose. This animal is easy to recognize because it has a black head and makes a signature call, “Donk! Donk! Donk!”
Canada Goose gets special protection in Canada. That means it’s illegal to kill one! Even if it goes inside your house when you aren’t home.
A little known fact: Canada Goose can vote! The Goose always votes “bread.” Another fact is that Canada Goose is the only animal known to fly in a V shape, the traditional shape of the Canada Palace on Parliament Hill.
A lot of Canadians aren’t that wild about Canada Goose. That’s because it goes to lakes and parks and makes droppings all over picnic tables. It flies over your car and makes droppings on there. When you are away at work, Canada Goose might even drop by and visit your wife.
She might even lie to you and say, “You’re drunk again! Have you been hanging out with Robert, your half-brother?”
No, I was at work, I was not hanging out with Robert. And I saw that Goose! I saw that darn long neck animal going out the window of our house.
Still, what are you going to do! This is Canada, and we must protect our famous Goose. The Goose Canada is named after.
